We sat down with Matt Squire, a Maths teacher at Newham Collegiate Sixth Form Centre to ask what he thought of MarkIt and why he has renewed licences!

WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT MARKIT?

"It is the fact that you know the students are going to have to think about every part of the question."

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF MARKIT TO TEACHERS?

"From a teacher's perspective, when I set work with MarkIt, I know they are taking the care to understand the process behind answering questions correctly and not rushing to the answer."

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF MARKIT TO STUDENTS?

"MarkIt slows down the process, gets them to think about each step and then isolates where they went wrong so they can see it clearly."

WHAT INSIGHT DO YOU GET AS A TEACHER?

"You get to see who is doing work at home. It also allowed us to have a quick and easy conversation with students about the types of mistakes they were making, allowing me to quickly fix errors."

HOW HAVE YOU USED MARKIT?

"Last year we used MarkIt as revision, by isolating students who we thought were going to achieve less than an A grade.

The student response made us buy licences for a second year. Students who are hard workers but less able really liked having individual feedback. We had lots of students moving up from Bs and Cs to As using MarkIt.

WHAT WOULD BE THE IMPACT IF YOU DIDN'T HAVE MARKIT?

"You would expect online questions to just tell you if you're right or wrong and students can copy homework easily this way. With MarkIt, even if you know the answer, you are still made to go through the steps to understand the process, meaning students can't copy and as a teacher, I get real insight into who is struggling and what they are struggling with."
